Kevin McCarthy
Kevin is from New York. He attended Stony Brook University and earned his B.S. in Biochemistry in 2008. There he worked in the laboratory of Rolf Sternglanz. He joined the Harvard Virology Program, was mentored by Welkin E. Johnson and received his Ph.D, in Virology in 2014. Kevin performed his postodoctoral work in Stephen C. Harrison’s group at Boston Children’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School.
Holly Simmons
Holly is from North Carolina and graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a B.S. in Chemistry in 2020. At UNC, she worked in the labs of Charlie Carter, Jr. and Robert McGinty. She joined the McCarthy lab in August 2021 as a research technician.
Aaron Graber
Aaron is a PhD candidate from California. He graduated from Goshen College with a B.A. in Biochemistry and a minor in Vocal Performance in 2017. There, he worked in the labs of Doug Schirch in the D3 Project and Philip Beachy at Stanford University, participating in multiple summer internships. Post graduation, Aaron served in the Peace Corps in The Gambia for 2 years as a health extension worker. In 2021, he worked in the lab of Eva Harris at UC Berkeley as a technician. He joined the McCarthy lab in May 2024 as a PhD student from the PMI program.
Grace Graudin
Grace is from North Carolina and graduated from North Carolina State University in 2022 with a B.S. in Biochemistry and minors in Microbiology and Global Health. At NC State, she researched cassava mosaic geminiviruses in the labs of Dr. Trino Ascencio-Ibanez and Dr. Linda Hanley-Bowdoin. Grace graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 2024 with an M.S. in Infectious Diseases and Microbiology where she researched chikungunya virus in Dr. Laurie Silva’s lab. She joined the CVR in August 2024 as an RBL technician and officially joined the McCarthy Lab in February 2025.
